About Ryan Wheaton
Ryan Wheaton is owner and head instructor at Arrowhead Martial Arts in Salt Lake City, UT.
Arrowhead Martial Arts specializes in teaching self-defense exclusively to adults over 18 years old with little-to-no experience a practical martial art system in a beginner-friendly training environment.
Ryan holds has been training in the martial arts for over 20 years and is a 7th degree black belt in AMERICAN KENPO under Master Paul Mills; a former student and protégé of the late Ed Parker. Ed Parker was body guard and instructor to Elvis and helped bring names like Bruce Lee and Chuck Norris to the forefront via his annual International Karate Championship tournament in Long Beach, California.
He has worked in security at various events and nightclubs in Las Vegas, California, Utah and Wyoming.
Ryan graduated from the University of Utah with a BS in Marketing from the David Eccles School of Business in 1997. He is the Chief Operating Officer at an online marketing firm based in Salt Lake City and has worked in various local advertising and marketing agencies since 1997.
Since 2005, he’s been blogging on his Arrowhead Martial Arts site about martial arts training tips, how to select a martial arts school, and more. Since 2008, he’s been blogging about local business marketing targeted at helping martial arts schools attract prospective students with both online and offline marketing.
Ryan was born and raised in Ann Arbor, Michigan and currently lives in Holladay, UT with his wife and son.
