I practice with high heels about 1/2 the time because I wear them most of the time. If I had in encounter the likeliness of me being in flats is slim. I used to do Tai Chi in the park a few years ago and loved it!

I was practicing in a parking garage one day while waiting for some friends to meet me. I found I was very aware of my surroundings, of the dark corners and walls, and it helped to heighten my intensity because it felt so street real. A little old man happened by and stopped to watch me for a while. When I paused, he asked, "Are you dancing or fighting?" I like to think both!

At home i never wear my gi. I always wear my normal cloths because the odds are that i will be wearing normal cloths, not my gi, when i will have to defend myself. I dont train in difrent eviorments though, that is a good idea. I also think runing through diffrent scenarios and situations will help you to know what you would do in those situations and help you to learn to develope a measured responce to diffrent levels of threat. Like G.I. Joe says...knowing is half the battle...

I'm all for going to the park to train in the summer! Let me know if anyone wants to go with me! Also, I never thought about training with things like sunglasses or backpacks...good idea! Another thought for us ladies is to try doing a few techniques with our purses on...
